I use images culled from my daily mediated visualintake/overflow and react to them/alter them through a variety of digital and analog means. The work also explores the capacities of representation // misunderstandings of representation in this age where any visual document can undergo digital manipulation and become re-circulated into the broad context of "media." Almost all expressive methods of visual communication have lost their existential quality to the co-opted visual fabric of marketing culture. I utilize the language of painting in so far that I digitize crude painting styles and weave them back into the fabric of post-ironic/pop/spectacle imagery. The two very different visual strategies cancel each other out and confound the viewer much in the same way that "doublethink" tactics erradicate the impulse to question powerful political machinery. ie: THE WAR IN IRAQ//OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM Our understanding of this situation is no doubt influenced by the verbal and visual structure with which it is mediated.
